Lake Placid Sports Medicine and Adirondack Health are members of the U.S. Olympic Committee’s National Medical Network, an affiliation of national and regional medical centers that provide care to elite U.S. athletes. Lake Placid Sports Medicine is the Official Orthopaedic Medicine Provider to the Lake Placid U.S. Olympic Training Center (OTC). The OTC caters to high caliber athletes competing in many winter sports including biathlon, bobsled and skeleton, figure skating, hockey, luge, ski and snowboard and speed skating, as well as other sports including boxing, canoe and kayak, judo, rowing, synchronized swimming, team handball, water polo and wrestling.
The providers at Lake Placid Sports Medicine have provided medical care and volunteer support at many events hosted by ORDA at the regional Olympic venues. Past events have included the USA Luge World Cup and FIBT Bobsled World Cup at Mt. Van Hoevenberg, the FIS Freestyle World Cup at Whiteface Mountain, various ski jumping and aerial events at the Olympic ski jumps, and Division III and ECAC college hockey tournaments at the Olympic Center.
The surgeons at Lake Placid Sports Medicine perform both outpatient and inpatient surgical procedures at Adirondack Health’s Adirondack Medical Center (AMC) in Saranac Lake, NY. AMC has been providing medical care to the Adirondacks for over a century, and continues to serve our community with highly skilled staff, state-of-the-art equipment, and a wide variety of medical resources.
